There are slight differences between Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Though both types of bankruptcies help you get back on your feet, they work in different ways. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, for example, can help you wipe out a lot of debt and keep your personal property. Chapter 13, on the other hand, helps you create a payment plan to keep property (like a house or car) when you have fallen behind on payments. You must also use the “Means Test” to determine if you qualify for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Also, your particular goals will help you decide whether you would benefit more from a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
